This week in Revelator History:

Jet Black Sunrise & The Amatory Murder

Both of these bands appear on Revelator #55 titled Loose Balloon, this title came from about because of what JBS almost named their band. JBS has released their third recording effort to close out 2014 with the EP “Departures” The guys continue to play live shows and craft their writing composition fueled with rolling rock and bare bones song writing.

The Amatory Murder lead by Xian talks about the bands second album “Exploiting Our Dreams” This interview went way deeper than music and recording. We got deep into some social matters involving mental illness and its overwhelming effects of those who suffer from it and the people around those who are suffering. It’s a really entertaining and thought provoking interview.

Chiodos & Jennifer Vaughn

Jennifer and Craig Owens from Chiodos appear on Revelator #56 together in a polarizing and in site look into music and modeling at the highest level.

Craig Owens the founder and lead vocalist of the band Chiodos joined me to talk about his difficult past involving addiction. Craig also interjects about how making the band’s new album “Devil” was helpful and really helped in the healing process. Craig also discussing the bands current touring plans, and we also talk some basketball. The NBA Playoffs have started and with Craig being a NY Knicks fans I’m sure he’s glad the season is over.

The band has since released an acoustic album that can be heard here:

The band looks to be off this summer from what I can see and has gone through more lineup changes on guitar & drums. I’m sure Craig and Chiodos will continue to make quality music.

Jennifer Vaughn, ha been a big supporter of Revelator and has appeared on two shows to date. Since her time as CGOY 2013 for Playboy, Jennifer has really taken her career in a great direction. Jennifer not only is a knock out but also has started a successful career as a producer and photographer.

The Nearly Deads:

TJ comes back on the show to discuss the bands upcoming tour with In This Moment & Butcher Babies that kicked off April 17th. We avoided the Bill Cosby pudding pop game and also the Alive, Dead, Nearly Dead guessing game. I did however get TJ to give me a sample of her vocal warm ups before taking the stage. It’s always great to catch up with TJ and the band! We Have Merch! Love ya Steven!

Originally from Tampa, Florida, before relocating to the music Mecca of Nashville three years ago, The Nearly Deads emit polished grit. Mixing the polished pop vocals of singer Theresa Jeane with the aggressive grunge-inspired instrumentals of Steve Tobi, Javier Garza, Josh Perrone, and Kevin Koelsch, the band has managed to create a truly unique genre that not only gives a nod to gritty grunge, but brings it back in a way never heard before.

Evidence of this musical evolution came to fruition in the form of a breakthrough track called "Never Look Back". Armed with a Zombie-infused music video that skyrocketed past 6 million views, NLB finds TND scratching the surface of a sound that fully comes into focus on their 11-song debut album, Invisible Tonight, available now!
